Practicing under clinical supervision

Emily Thornton-Wourms is a Master of Social Work student who brings years of casework experience and a warm, down-to-earth approach to supporting individuals through life’s challenges. She believes in understanding each person within the context of their relationships, experiences, identity, and environment.

Emily works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, life transitions, and existential concerns. Her approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and trauma-informed, incorporating motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and practical problem-solving to help clients better understand patterns and develop meaningful strategies for change.

Emily is passionate about creating an LGBTQIA+ and neurodiversity-affirming space and welcomes individuals whose identities, relationships, or experiences may not always feel understood in traditional settings, including members of the kink community.

Above all, Emily strives to meet clients where they are and build a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, authenticity, respect, and empowerment.
